How Next Move Dance handles the personal information of the families and visitors who contact the studio.

Who we are

Next Move Dance Corp runs Next Move Dance, a street dance studio at 9304 Salish Ct, Burnaby, BC V3J 7B5. We are responsible for the personal information described here, and we handle it under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act. Questions and requests go to info@nextmovedance.com or (778) 994-7713.

What we collect

  • About a parent, guardian or other contact: first and last name, email address and phone number.
  • About a child: first name and age group. A birth month and year, or notes about a child, only when a parent gives them to us, and those are stored encrypted.
  • What you tell us in a form: your message, and the program, topic, organization or studio it is about.
  • Your choices: your permission for us to contact you, and whether you want studio news, with the date you chose.
  • If you unsubscribe from follow-up emails: a one-way code made from your email address, the date, and whether you used our page or your mail app. We keep it even if you ask us to delete your family's records, so that we send no more follow-up emails to that address.
  • How you found us: the first page you arrived on, the website that sent you, and campaign codes added to the address, such as those from Google Ads.
  • For security: a one-way code made from your internet address, used to limit repeated form submissions, and the name of the browser you used.

What we do not collect

We never see or store card numbers. Payments go through Helcim, which keeps card details on its own systems. We do not use children's information for advertising.

How we use it

  • To answer your message, book a free trial and send the emails and text messages that go with it.
  • To tell the class's mentor about a free trial: the child's first name and age group, and nothing about the parent.
  • To let the class's mentor mark whether a child came to a free trial: the child's first name and age group.
  • To run classes and keep the studio's enrolment records.
  • To follow up after a free trial you book on this website. We send up to three emails: one after the class, with our Parent Handbook, one the next day, and one two days after the trial. They stop once the studio records that you registered.
  • To help you book again if your child missed a free trial you booked on this website. When the studio records the missed trial, we send one email the next morning with a link to choose a new date.
  • To follow up after you enrol. A staff member may send you one email that asks for a Google review, no more than once a year.
  • To send studio news, only if you ask for it.
  • To see which pages and advertising bring families to the studio. Analytics count visits and form submissions and never receive names, email addresses, phone numbers or anything about a child.
  • To protect the forms from automated abuse.

Consent

When you send a form, you agree that we may contact you about it by email or phone. Studio news is a separate choice, and you can withdraw it at any time. Our commercial messages follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Who handles it for us

We use a small number of service providers. Each is bound to protect the information and to use it only for the work we ask of them.

  • Supabase: our database, in Montréal, Canada. Information is encrypted on disk, and phone numbers are encrypted a second time.
  • Vercel: runs the website. Requests pass through its network, which includes servers in the United States. Nothing is stored there.
  • GitHub: makes the nightly copy of the database on one of its servers, which may be outside Canada. The copy is encrypted there before it leaves, and nothing is kept there.
  • Backblaze: keeps each encrypted nightly copy in Canada for 30 days.
  • Resend: delivers our emails, from the United States.
  • Telnyx: delivers our text messages, from the United States: a confirmation of a free trial request, a reminder the day before the trial, and a message when a waitlist spot opens.
  • Helcim (Canada): processes payments. It receives your name, what you book and the amount, and it collects your card and billing address in its own window.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that a form was sent by a person.
  • Eventbrite: when you press Reserve a spot for an open house, the page loads Eventbrite's ticket window. Eventbrite receives that page's address, and what you enter in the window goes to Eventbrite.
  • Google Analytics: counts visits and form submissions, without names or contact details.

Where it is stored

The studio's records are stored in Canada, in Montréal, and an encrypted nightly copy is kept in Canada. Emails and text messages are delivered by providers in the United States, which see the recipient's address or number and the message itself.

Cookies

  • nmd_arrival: remembers the page you first arrived on and the website or campaign that sent you, for up to 30 days, so a form you send later records how you found us. Only this website reads it.
  • Google Analytics sets its own cookies to count visits. They do not carry your name or contact details.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile may use cookies to tell a person from an automated script.

Your choices and requests

You can ask for a copy of your family's records, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them. Write to info@nextmovedance.com or call (778) 994-7713.

Every news email has a way to unsubscribe, and so does each follow-up email. In a follow-up email, it is a link at the bottom that opens a page with an Unsubscribe button. Press that button, or the unsubscribe button your mail app may offer, and we send no more follow-up emails to that address. Emails about a trial or a booking you make, such as a confirmation, a reminder or a receipt, still come.

How we protect it

Every page is served over an encrypted connection. Access to family records is limited by role and enforced in the database, and every staff change is logged. The database is backed up every day, and a separate copy is kept in Canada for 30 days. A record you asked us to delete can stay in one of these backups for up to 32 days, until that backup itself is gone.

Changes

We update this page when the way we handle personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
